Not only was yesterday Valentines day, but it was me & Eugene’s one year (dating) anniversary. It’s a confusing place to be because I hear once you’re engaged your dating anniversary doesn’t matter anymore. So crazy how much can change in just a year’s time. Exactly 365 days ago, Eugene and I got together. and now we’re engaged to be married. How time flies!

Looking back, it’s crazy to see how every part of our lives has brought us to where we are now. This was about three years ago…. Oh how much has changed :)

So thankful for God’s sovereignty in our lives together and our lives individually :)
Our God is definitely so sweet.

The first time me and Eugene ever took pictures together, we went to a lake to read. We were getting ready to take a picture of ourselves in front of the lake when this picture was taken by accident.

Look at the sky! E & S in the clouds :) We joked that it was God’s sign of approval of us. Silly imagination, but who know’s.. could be true!

From setting up chairs together every Sunday morning, praying together for our church with the 3-man morning prayer group, studying at Gateway, seeing each other randomly at Panera while studying— all this had led us to this point.

I remember when we first got together, it was so weird even eating in front of each other because we had never eaten together alone before. Our first date was a 5:30am breakfast at IHOP before we set up chairs at church on Sunday morning. Awkward yet strangely comfortable. Surreal, yet so sweet.

It took a few weeks for us to get used to hanging out by ourselves. This past year was full of many laughs, simple questions like “so..what’s your favorite ice cream flavor?”, discovering strange habits and areas of weaknesses, emails, pho dinners, pictures, morning text messages, goodnight phone calls, reminders to persevere and not complain, coffee dates, books, disneyland trips, post-its and surprises here and there— but that’s not even the best part!

The thing I love most about being with Eugene is the honor I have to see first-hand the way God is working in and through his life. In being in a relationship with someone who really loves God and really desires to honor Him with his life— I get to see how mightily and powerfully and faithfully God works in the life of a believer who really trusts in Him daily. Despite the many hardships that come on a day-to-day basis, I’m given the opportunity to spur him on, to encourage him, to challenge him, to learn from him and to grow in grace with Him.

We have much to grow and much to learn. We are sinners— totally undeserving of anything in our lives; our every day hangs on the mercy of God. and yet, He shows us grace and demonstrates His love to us in giving us far more than we deserve. He gives us life and an abundant one at that- what a glorious, glorious God He is!!!! :) My prayer and hope is that as every year of us passes by, our lives and our relationship will truly be used to worship and praise His name!

Happy 1 year Eugene :) You are my favorite.

.. and yes, you are now very much taken. haha :)

Every blessing you pour out,
I’ll turn back to praise.

Give thanks— God’s faithful provision and protection over our relationship, prayer, accountability, tina, mel, coffee, naps, the gift of time, sweet eugene, the Giver of all good gifts.
