My mom was gone for a retreat these last few days, so after small group last night I rushed home to spend time and ‘baby’-sit my sister. She’s 17, but still a baby to me! Today I had to fill in the big shoes my mom wear on a daily basis: setting up the table for meals, cleaning after, doing laundry for the family, cleaning after the dog (ugh..), taking my sister to school, giving her lunch, waving my dad goodbye, folding clothes (blaghh..), picking my sister up from practice, taking her to do errands, etc.. What big shoes they were indeed. I can’t believe my mom does this every. single. day..
It was a sobering experience for me since I will be having to prepare for my own family at the end of this year. All the things I spent the day doing for my family, I will one day have to do for my own family. Tis truly a life of much sacrifice and service. Props to all the moms and wives out there, you guys are amazing! Although it was tiring and busy, it was exciting and fun too!
My Mommy Day started last night when I went to sleep a few hours before my usual bedtime. Breakfast marked the start of my day.. it’s the most important meal of the three!

After Breakfast, I waited for Katherine to get ready for school. I was in disbelief how many things she needed to do to “get ready”.. this “getting ready” took almost two whole hours.. Yes, TWO…

so I waited, and waited.. and we still ended up being a little early, so we decided to grab some morning coffee! :o) Best way to start the day..

Please excuse my morning face, and our arthritis looking fingers.. (haha)

I came home just in time to say bye to my dad as he was leaving for work. Waved him goodbye and then I was all alone. I didn’t like being home alone with all the realtors and gardeners walking around our front lawn… : ( but alone I was..

but there was still work to be done! Dishes to wash, beds to make, dirty clothes to wash..

Laundry is such a long cycle. Throw, wash, transfer. Dry, Fold, Put away. (Repeat).

However grueling, repetitive or long the cycle may be— the slow and long process provides abundant time for quiet thinking and relaxation time. Twas Sweet. Then the quietness started to make me scared again so I ended up watching a movie while I was folding.
I didn’t have time to go grocery shopping the night before.. and there were no good ingredients for lunch-packing, so per babysister’s request I delivered her some good quality sandwiches for lunch : )

It was strange to be back on the high school grounds. I saw one of the security guard ladies and the same feeling of anxiety came upon me like I was doing something wrong.. strange how even after 4 years some things don’t change.. Haunting…

I came home to another load of laundry ready to be taken out of the dryer. Folding clothes is my least favorite thing.. but it’s even worse when I have a stinky old fart dog running around poo-ing everywhere.. I got mad at him and was punishing him and he sat right in front of the laundry and wouldn’t get out of the way.. Brat. (haha)

But I eventually finished folding all the laundry.. and the watching the movie. I watched Social Network which (in my opinion) was just alright. Satisfied my need for company during my long hours of laundry-folding. :)
After all the house work, I wanted to try to squeeze some studying in… so I went to a nearby Starbucks to do some reading for tomorrow’s class. I’m taking a Community Health class, and the book I’m borrowing from jQuen had this post-it over one of th epictures..
Usually post-its are used for covering inappropriate pictures that we have in our textbooks that are not appropriate for children under the age of 15… so I was curious what image of inappropriate monstrosity needed concealing.. “health care in a county jail? yikes.. sounds like its gonna be brutal..”

I was surprised. haha, he looks… nice to me.. hahahaha!
I didn’t have too much study time because within a few hours Katherine called saying she ended her rehersal. We took a target run and bought a few things she needed to buy and then we went eat one of my favorite meals in the whole world : )

I love Pho…Mmmm~ Comfort food, indeed. Twas a great way to end a long day.
I’ll need to study alot to make up for the lack of studying I did today.. but spending time at home with my sister was so sweet. It doesn’t really feel like school started even though I already had a full 6-hour day of school on Monday. This quarter seems like it’s gonna be a little crazy, but it’s my last so gotta finish strong!
Give thanks— time to read in the morning, extra time with family, pink socks, electric blankets, time with Katherine, calenders, a fresh start of the quarter, warm piles of laundry, hot showers, sleeping early
